From Control to Cohesion: How Can a Proprietary Vision Evolve into a Shared Family Governance Model?

Many entrepreneurial families have already defined a clear ownership strategy, setting out shares, succession plans, and roles. But is this enough to ensure business continuity, family cohesion, and long-term prosperity? The real challenge is not just owning the business, but being able to govern it together.

This was the core theme of the third session of the seminar “From Ownership Strategy to Family Governance”, held at the Milan headquarters of AIDAF under the guidance of Daniela Montemerlo, Professor of Family Business and Governance at the University of Insubria and SDA Bocconi, and Alessandro Minichilli, Professor of Corporate Governance and Family Business at SDA Bocconi.

At the heart of the discussion were the development of family governance structures, the role of family bodies, the management of generational transitions, and the tools needed to safeguard both the business and family relationships, with contributions from Matteo Fumagalli Romario, Executive at a company of the SOL Group, and Matteo Bonelli, lawyer and member of the BonelliErede Focus Team on Family Businesses & SMEs.
