These are gaskets with a metallic support completely o partially coated with soft material with sealing and good compressibility features. These gasket can be adapted to irregular surfaces, with wide roughness range, and they can be used with quite high pressure. The support section brings out the coating material characteristic and makes easy to handle the gasket.

The TX2020 gasket is made of a metallic ring, Aisi 316L for the standard product, with the task of “centreing ring”, supporting sealing material and as anti-vortex element through flange joint. The used graphite, Grafoil-Grafkote graphite, confined to the synod edges profile, gives the seal a high and fast elastic recovery, which is essential if we expect rapid changes in pressure and temperature. The graphite density used on the TX2020 has optimal value for a good elastic recovery without giving up a good compressibility. The special geometry of the support allows to use the gasket with every kind of flange finish.

Tx2020 can be manufactured also on customer request for equipments, as heat exchanger, in addition to standard flanges. Tx2020 requires low assets load and supports high unit loads.


TX 2007 – Monel and Grafoil gasket

The first gasket for HF application and regenerable.Tx2007 was the scope of the research and study to find the solution to flange corrosion for the severe applications, they have to resist and to solve any problems during the mounting of the gasket, which is according the specific project.

In Tx.2007 double Grafoil-Grafkote the sealing element has the same dimensions of gasket spiral manufactured according to ASME B16.20 specification. It can be applied in HF-alkylation plant, where a lot of flange are affected by corrosion in the portion of surface between the inner diameter of flange and inner diameter of spiral and sometime also under the spiral. However to install standard gasket, it is necessary a re-facing of surfaces and this can be difficult. With the TX 2007, thanks to its high compressibility and complete flange protection system, it is possible to obtain sealing and stopping of corrosion.

Each gasket has an identification tag with materials, size and class, to help the technicians to identify the special gasket for HF also for tightening coupling.

The possibility to use again the monel support as new gasket (changing only both sealing Grafoil Grafkote elements) is the good economical and environmental benefit.


The gasket is an upgrade of grooved metallic gasket. It is a metallic gasket with both contact surfaces with flanges covered with a soft material. The most common material for coating are GRAFOIL®, PTFE, Thermiculite, silver, aluminium etc. The coating material is held to the metallic part with inert binder.

Since a decade they have a large range of application, particularly on heat exchanger and this against metal-jacketed gasket: it is a gasket with good performances, easy to handle and after a good disassembly and a check of the status it can be regenerable. The are manufactured also for standard flange.

The TX2021 and TX2022, derived from TX2020, are designed to replace Metal Jacketed Gaskets and unconfined Spiral Wound Gaskets. TX2021/TX2022 Gaskets have a seating load factor ‘y’ equal to 6.20 N/mm2, smaller than Metal Jacketed and Spiral Wound Gaskets (in which “y” factor is between 37,9 and 68,9 N/mm2), also allowing application on irregular surfaces. The stress factor ‘m’ is equal to 2, smaller than Metal Jacketed and Spiral Wound Gaskets (in which “m” factor is between 3,25 and 3,75.

TX2021 is covered with GRAFOIL® 1,6 mm in thickness, while TX2022 is covered with GRAFOIL® 0,8 mm in thickness. TX2023 is designed for small radial space applications: TX2023 consists of a solid grooved metal core with GRAFOIL® facing materials, 0,2 mm in thickness, bonded on both sealing surface faces. Jacketed Metal gaskets are installed on many devices. These seals have wide application for temperature, pressure and chemical compatibility. However, the seals with metal studs Jacketed have critical issues inherent in the construction itself, and these occur at junctions with the peripheral part of them. It happens that in these areas the behaviour of the seal is not regularunder the action of the load transmitted by threaded rods and joint therefore product losses often occur in close proximity of them. This situation is not seen in the case of metal gaskets Jacketed without studs.

VED produces metal seals with cross jacketed joined by brazing to the device. While offeringthe brazing material limited resistance to crushing, VED has further improved the preformed jointstud in the next attack, so that practically no effect of its presence of it in the resistance to crushing and then to the seal. In practice, the seal acts as if there were no studs, offering he same reaction to the load, and then the same resistance to internal pressure, along each stage of development circle.

The seal is made of metal Jacketed well be much more reliable and regular.
