Maria Pia Prestigiacomo, current Vice President of Confindustria Siracusa with a mandate for credit, taxation, finance, and territorial infrastructure, and head of the companies Coemi and VED, has recently been elected President of the Mechanical Engineering Entrepreneurs Section of Confindustria Siracusa. The election took place during the Section’s assembly, held at the Confindustria Siracusa headquarters.

President Prestigiacomo, the first woman to hold this prestigious position, emphasized some of the most significant challenges that companies in the sector must face in the complex historical context that the country is currently experiencing. Among these, energy transition emerges as one of the most important issues.

“It is a challenge that companies must face with preparation, but which also requires the availability of technical skills, which are currently hard to find,” said Prestigiacomo.

She also highlighted the importance of investing in training and safety, promoting a shared growth path for workers and companies, in collaboration with social partners.

The President also stressed the importance of creating a clear and stable regulatory framework for entrepreneurs, enabling effective planning and programming of investments. “To grow our industrial fabric, it is essential to close the infrastructural gap that still characterizes our territory, thus facilitating the possibility of doing business in a competitive way,” added Prestigiacomo.

The new Presidency Council of the Mechanical Engineering Companies Section sees Giovanni Musso (Irem) as Vice President, and members Roberto Bramanti (Isme), Alfio Fazio (Ifa), and Giovanni Norma (Sikel Impianti).

The election of Maria Pia Prestigiacomo marks an important step towards greater female involvement at the top of industrial associations, strengthening women’s leadership in the mechanical engineering sector and promoting a vision focused on innovation and sustainable development.
